Magic: the Gathering Recent Standard Tournaments

Shadow costs red and black mana, which means he doesn’t fit in a Sonic Commander deck, but he would fit in a Dr. Eggman deck. We’re still a ways out from launch, so significant discounts are unlikely at this point. Still, there is the possibility of pre-order price cuts ahead of release.

Final Fantasy (FIN) Limited Set Review: Red

At Two-Headed Giant Commander Nights, players can join forces in two-on-two games of Commander. Here, you’ll team up with another player of your choice (or be paired with another attendee) for some casual multiplayer games. In this episode of Fun & Jank, we’re looking at five sleeper cards that haven’t broken through—yet. From transformation tricks to discard engines and explosive ramp setups, these are the future all-stars that just need the right shell, support, or format shift to shine.

We’ll continue to try new things, but Sealed events with Play Booster boxes as prizes will be the core of what you can expect. We plan on running more events that reward Collector Booster boxes with their own structure, but availability will be on a set-by-set basis due to limited inventory. Starting with Edge of Eternities, we’ll be launching more specialized Commander events at participating WPN game stores. These offer new ways to play and new ways to earn special promo cards. Previously called Commander Party promo cards, these can be earned at any eligible Commander Play events starting with Edge of Eternities. That way, you can score sweet promos regardless of your preferred way to play Commander.

You can pick up prerelease boxes at special prerelease events, followed by bundles that provide players with a handful of Play Boosters and accessories. Second, we’re still exploring the best way to handle taxes for non-US players, a process that is more complicated than we originally thought. While we work with our partners to deliver a sustainable, long-term plan, Wizards of the Coast will continue covering US tax obligations for international players who win physical product. In cases where physical product is not available, Wizards of the Coast will substitute a Cash Prize, which will vary depending on the event.

Join your local game store’s Commander Box League during Prerelease week! Running from the start of a set’s Prerelease events up until it’s tabletop release, these are a great way to get introduced to a new Magic set. I’ve set our price-matching software the task of watching out for discounts, and you’ll find the results below. For a better look at the latest savings, don’t miss our guide to the best MTG deals. As per usual, the backbone of this set is the Play Booster range. There are two ways to get them here; individually, or in a larger box. Because MTG Edge of Eternities is a mainline, Standard-legal set, publisher Wizards of the Coast is throwing its full weight behind the launch. That means Play and Collector Boosters are dropping alongside a couple of Commander Decks, bundles, and a prerelease box.

Here are the detailed event structures for each type of Arena Direct. 2024 was a learning year for our direct-to-player fulfillment. Early on, delays were frustratingly common as we built out support for the Arena Direct program. But thanks to some work behind the scenes, most 2025 winners received their rewards within 3–4 weeks of completing an event.

We’re working with our partners to streamline that process as much as possible, but players must complete this prior to claiming their physical rewards. With nearly a dozen Arena Direct events behind us, it’s clear this format has become one of the most popular and engaging events on MTG Arena. Events regularly have strong participation and fans of the event will often enter multiple times throughout the weekend. All three Secret Lair sets go on sale Monday, July 14, at noon ET/9 a.m.

Logistics remain challenging, especially for international shipping, but we’re committed to finding solutions to these problems. Some players have still experienced delays due to a variety of issues. To combat these disruptions, we’ve added more quality-assurance checks before each event goes live, and we’ve beefed up our Customer Support team to better address those edge cases.

Whenever Sonic attacks, he puts power-increasing counters on other creatures with flash or haste, which not-so-coincidentally includes all of the aforementioned allies that fit in his deck. And Sonic having the haste ability himself means he can attack the same turn you cast him, virtually guaranteeing one activation. Tails can draw cards when flying vehicles enter — a nice nod to his plane, which first showed up in the late stages of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Knuckles has a lot going on, including the ability to create treasure tokens that can help you cast spells — or just outright win the game if you have enough while he’s on the battlefield. You must have played at least one ranked game in the respective format to receive seasonal rewards. This set marks the first time Magic has properly tackled sci-fi as a setting, and it’s a major departure from the game’s usual swords ‘n’ sorcery.

Indeed, it feels as if this set is getting a far bigger fuss made of it than usual; there’s a host of tournaments and activities being run in its honor. This promises to keep Edge of Eternities on fans’ minds long after release day. MTG Edge of Eternities is due to launch on August 1, 2025, but that doesn’t mean you’ll need to wait until then for the fun to begin. The set’s story has already begun, and a full debut will follow shortly. When you buy codes through the link here, we may earn an affiliate commission. Cash substitutions, when needed, will better align with the MSRP of the prizes rather than being a flat dollar amount. Event entries for Arena Directs are increasing from 5,000 gems to 6,000 gems. Entries for Arena Directs with Universes Beyond products as rewards will be 8,000 gems.
